Lightweight & Highly Customizable Ajax Events Calendar

Posted · Category: Calendar, GPL License

dhtmlxScheduler is a web-based event calendar which provides simple in-browser scheduling solution. With smooth Ajax-enabled interface dhtmlxScheduler allows users to add, modify or delete events without refreshing the web page.

Intuitive drag-n-drop behavior gives the possibility to change events date and start/end time by simply dragging the event boxes. The calendar events can be displayed in Day/Week/Month views.

dhtmlxScheduler is very lightweight (about 19KB gzipped), cross-browser and highly customizable. Each aspect of the calendar interface can be configured through JavaScript API. Developers can easily add/update events, change date format, time scale or calendar language.

Javascript Calendar

Although dhtmlxScheduler is a pure JavaScript solution, it can be easily connected to the backend database with the help of dhtmlxConnector, a PHP extension that enables data communication between client-side interface and server-side datasource.

You can also use your own server-side code written in any language (PHP, Java, ASP, etc.) to bind scheduler content to the database. dhtmlxScheduler is distributed under GNU GPL and commercial licenses.

jQuery Full Month Calendar Plugin Supports Events

Posted · Category: Calendar, License Free

jMonthCalendar is a full month calendar that supports events. You simply initialize the calendar with options and an events array and it can handle the rest. It is compatible with jQuery 1.3.0.

jMonthCalendar has extension points that allow the developer to interact with the calendar when the display is about to change months, after the display has changed months and when the event bubbles are clicked on. By default the events would each have a URL supplied that would link to a details page.

WordPress Event Registration Forms Made Easy

Posted · Category: Forms

For anyone who administers a blog or manages a website, understanding the importance of interacting with readers has not escaped your attention. And if you have your company’s profile or blogs on WordPress, that interaction at times requires informing readers or customers of upcoming events.

Even if you manage a couple of blogs that have acquired a large group of loyal readers, there are times when you want to announce a special event or topic. Aside from using the “Comment” section, there is a great way to contact, interact and allow visitors to register for more interactive communication or to register for special events.

It’s surprisingly simple to create a registration form in WordPress, in fact it is as easy as simply installing and activating a plug-in. This is a much easier option than having to code forms or hire someone else to take care of it for you. CaptainForm has a great WordPress event registration plug-in that I have found out that not only saves time, but it also provides features that automate the invitation and registration process.

You won’t need any programming or technical expertise to get a customized form up and running on your website. Let’s face it, not everyone is technologically talented. That’s one of the best things about using event registration forms from CaptainForm: they work smoothly and seamlessly without any add-ons. It’s a wonderful way to collect and analyze the data on your target audiences, which is key to having a successful readership and or business. Read the rest of this entry »

FullCalendar – Full-Sized, Drag & Drop Calendar

Posted · Category: Calendar, GPL License, MIT License

FullCalendar is a jQuery plugin that provides a full-sized, drag & drop calendar. It uses AJAX to fetch events on-the-fly for each month and is easily configured to use your own feed format (an extension is provided for Google Calendar). It is visually customizable and exposes hooks for user-triggered events (like clicking or dragging an event).

FullCalendar is great for displaying events, but it isn’t a complete solution for event content-management. Beyond dragging an event to a different day, you cannot change an event’s name, time-of-day, or other associated data. It is up to you to add this functionality through FullCalendar’s event hooks.

Create iCal-like Calendars with CSS and jQuery

Posted · Category: Calendar, License Free

One of the most common requests from clients when it comes to WordPress personalization, is to add a basic event calendar to their website. Finding a good place to position a big table like a calendar within your WordPress template is always a taught work. In addition, the <table> tag itself is often quite difficult to style in a good way.

Therefore, Stefano Verna came up with astonishing iCal-like calendars with jQuery. All the magic takes place with some ninja CSS. In addition to the plain calendar structure, You can see a lightweight Coda-like effect for events description popup as well.
