Posted · Category: License Free, Tools

Spritebox is a WYSIWYG tool to help web designers quickly and easily create CSS classes and IDs from a single sprite image. It is based on the principle of using the background-postion property to align areas of a sprite image into block elements of a web page. It was made using a combination of jQuery, CSS3 and HTML5, and it totally free to use.

  • nice tool, but seems like it’s way too buggy (at least in opera). gonna recheck it from time to time, looks promising…

  • Waou ! It’s an amazing tool : it will save a lot of time for my sprite ! Thank you for sharing it.
(@toi* : in firefox, i have no problem with it…)

  • Same bugs in FF for me.. like everytime I enter a value and press ENTER, the entire image disappears and I have to re-upload and start all over again :( hope that’s gonna be fixed anytime soon…

I have to be honest, this seems like a useless tool. CSS sprites aren’t hard to create and why would anyone waste so much time using a WYSIWYG while it can be done with CSS in a few seconds. Sorry but I just find it useless.
