jQuery File Upload with Upload Progress Bar

Posted · Category: MIT License, Upload

jQuery File Upload Plugin allows you to select multiple files at once and upload them simultaneously. You can also upload files by dragging them from your desktop or filemanager and dropping them on your browser window.

It shows a progress bar indicating the upload progress for individual files. Individual file uploads can be canceled to stop the upload progress. It also provides an API to set individual options and define callBack methods for various upload events. It works with Google App Engine (Python, Java), Ruby on Rails, PHP and any other platform that supports HTTP file uploads.

Woohoo, heard of the slashdot effect? We now have the webappers effect!

Google App Engine – Over Quota!

I did have a play early and it looked very cool. Although it does seem a little buggy (I had it stall on uploading a 2.3mb file, which was one of three similar sized files I was uploading).

The tech inside is undoubtably very cool.

Have you been using this in production? It still very cool looking tech, I’m currently using swfupload (because of the client resize functionality) but it’d be interesting to get feed back from people who’ve used this in ‘production’.
