The Community-built Open Source Online HTML Editor

Posted · Category: BSD License, Forms

Xinha is a powerful WYSIWYG HTML editor component that works in Mozilla based browsers as well as in MS Internet Explorer. Its configurabilty and extensibility make it easy to build just the right editor for multiple purposes, from a restricted mini-editor for one database field to a full-fledged website editor. Its liberal, BSD licence makes it an ideal candidate for integration into any kind of project.

Xinha is Open Source, and they take this seriously. There is no company that owns the source but a community of professionals who just want Xinha to be the best tool for their work.

    Downloaded.
    Tested.

Surprised it does not fully support XHTML. NO css classes/ids.
I entered some sample text and it did everything in depreciated tags.
Many font tags for me to seriously consider.

We have used both this and fckeditor previously on our CMS systems for our clients (we trialed xhina as fckeditor had some firewall issues in previous versions).

we started phasing out xhina a couple of years ago as it just cannot compete with the functionality of fckeditor at the moment.

I’ve been using Xhina since 2004 and it’s the best WYSIWYG editor I’ve ever seen.

That’s why I include Xhina in our CMS. I can recommend Xhina to every web developer!
