Build Your Own Slideshow with s3Slider jQuery Plugin

  • CC License, Gallery

The s3Slider jQuery plugin is made by example of JonDesign’s smooth slideshow script. The author needed something like that for jQuery. Since he didnt find it after a small research, he decided to build it by himself. This script is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 2.5. So you can use it in all you projects even commercial ones. This plugin has been tested and is known to work in Firefox, Opera, Safari, Internet Explorer and Google Chrome.

Fantastic, that’s the slickest slideshow demo I’ve seen, completely sold. It’s about time I swapped prototype and gave jquery a quick spin with Rails.

Is anyone using this or a similar slideshow effect with Rails?

Plus the new jag looks lovely in that pic.

Love it. Top-notch quality work from the author. Wonder if you can navigate through the slideshow..

This is what I was dreaming of when I’ve started creating flash slideshows 5 years ago. This is one of the very best practices of jQuery and it’s power.

    Keep up de good work!

No navigation and no thumbails. While this is great for a small amount of images with subtitles it is not usable for a more general purpose. However – as the author states – it was made for his project where it fits the bill!

We can only hope there is a v2.0… Sooner than later, I have no experience with the jQuery framework being a prototype man myself. However – it does seem I am at the point of maby concidering porting all systems to jQuery since all the eyecandy is appearing there lately! Hrmf!
