Spellify – Automatic Text Field Spell Checker

  • Forms, GPL License

Do you need a spell checker for your forms? Spellify is an automatic text field spell checker. You just need to type or paste some text into the text field. No need to press the enter key. The spell checker automatically checks the text when you’re finished. It will suggest some words for you if it cannot find your text in dictionary. It is extremely useful if you need users to fill in forms or submit contents. It works in IE7, FF2, IE6, Opera 9, Safari 3.

I could see me using this now and then, it’s better than using google.com for spelling! Yeah, I do that. >.>

It doesn’t work with IE6 well. There is some tranparent .png issue I think.

Firefox does this for you automatically in text fields and textareas. And since 30% of people use that and the other browsers will have to copy firefox, I don’t really see the need for this. Just my 2 cents.

@ Joe, this is exactly what I tell my customers, though they still told me they wanted me to build in spell checking functionality. They wanted the user experience to be the same cross browser.

It’s pretty cool and I’ve already implemented it into one of my b2b solutions.

    Thanks Ray!
