You can get great results and save considerable amounts of time by taking advantage of textures that are freely available. One excellent resources of textures (and other types of stock images) is Stock.xchng. Designm.ag has shared us “60+ Free Textures from SXC.hu“, you’ll find more than 60 textures from Stock.xchng. Each image links to the page on sxc.hu where the image can be downloaded.

7 different graph paper files to print and use for UX work are made for visual designers, interaction designers, and information architects. You’ll find styles for wireframing user interfaces, story boarding interaction, and plotting values on a two by two grid. Plus you’ll get a basic grid for drafting sitemaps or anything else that might come up.
These pages are great for sketching, but also work well when producing high fidelity drawings. The title bar and grid lines are photo-safe, so they won’t show up when you scan them into your computer. The thick black lines for boxes will show in scans and are 2px wide to match the weight of Pentel Sign Pens.
These PDF documents are formatted for 8.5″ x 11″ paper. They are free to use, but may not be distributed for commercial purposes without permission.

Caleb Kimbrough knows what it’s like trying to scrounge around on the internet for copyright-free materials, and that it can be quite a hassle at times. Therefore, he has created Lost and Taken to help out his fellow designers and photographers.
Lost and Taken is a depository of copyright-free stock photographic textures that you can use…whether it be for a graphic design project or simply printing them out and staring at them for hours on end. You can use the images on Lost and Taken in any of your photographic or design projects, both personal and commercial. The only thing you can’t do with the images is use them in their original state as your own stock photography, don’t sell them as your own or host them elsewhere.

CGTextures strives to be the worlds best texture site. It is hard to create textures without good photo materials. Making textures should be about creativity, not about spending hours looking for the right image on the internet. CGTextures supplies good quality textures in an organized manner, it makes your everyday work much easier and more enjoyable.
You are free to use the textures in your work. However, they have a quota system in place in order to save their bandwidth. The quota system looks at how much you have downloaded in the last 24 hours, there is no daily reset at a certain time. If you have downloaded more than 15MB, then you are out of quota and cannot download any more.

Cameronmoll has collected 25 resources for ornaments, fleurons, and frilly bits for us. Type ornaments, also termed printer’s ornaments, have been used in conjunction with type for literally hundreds of years. Of course, nowadays it’s all too easy to abuse these design elements, adding them merely for decoration rather than communication. But in the hands of an accomplished designer who knows how to use them appropriately and in moderation, type ornaments can serve to beautify and enhance a design. You can see some ornaments have been used on the top of the menu column on WebAppers as well.
