Automatically Adds Filler Content to HTML Documents

Posted · Category: License Free, Tools

Fixie.js is an open source tool that automatically adds filler content to HTML documents. When designing and developing websites, it’s often useful to add lorem ipsum text to see what your page will look like without worrying about your final content. Unfortunately, adding lots of filler content involves lots of copy-pasting and manual editing, and also makes your HTML unwieldy.

Fixie.js makes filler content succinct, making it faster and easier to test out your designs. By interpreting your semantic HTML5 tags, Fixie will automagically add the right type of content in the right places. Headings, paragraphs, links, images, sections.

Nice idea, but in my opinion the approach is not quite perfect yet. I think that it would be much more convenient if the element targeting went the other way: Instead of adding a class “fixie” (which I would have to remove along with the one line of code of fixie when the page goes live) to the elements that I want to be filled, why doesn’t fixie allow me to pass  my elements to be filled as parameters. In this case all I would have to remove when publishing is the one line of fixie.

P.S.: Really hate the hipster elements on that site, fixie bike reference is nice but lame at the same time. :-)

Whoops, just found this feature on their Github site, apparently this IS possible. Nevermind.

I don’t this is a good idea. Because even if you want quick design but later you will have to fix them all. And nowadays designers are familiar with html ( the most basic skill ). But it’s nice btw
