Allows Webpage to Interact with Kinect using Javascript

Posted · Category: Framework, GPL License

DepthJS allows any web page to interact with the Microsoft Kinect using Javascript. Navigating the web is only one application of the framework they built – that is, they envision all sorts of applications that run in the browser, from games to specific utilities for specific sites.

The great part is that now web developers who specialize in Javascript can work with the Kinect without having to learn any special languages or code. DepthJS is open source under the AGPL license.

That is amazing. The video is too cool. Is there any plans for FF plugins to allow ppl to use the MS kinect (ppl wiuthout programming knowledge) with their home computer.? It would be cool to be able to sit on the couch and browse websites on my TV by using the MS kinect. Do the two companies that built the two systems that allow the motion interaction OK the use of their product in this manner.?

Last thought: no keyboard, no mouse = the net internet.
