The Ext guys displayed a startling lack of clue regarding licensing, and made some comments that permanently alienated me from their products (I’m now a happy jQuery user).

I would suggest that folks considering using Ext look into their history a bit and make sure you want to hook yourself to that type of organization.

Ext’s licensing options don’t concern the vast majority of developers, it’s mainly been a rather vocal minority.

Smartclient has a fare number of good features, but seems to lack some of the polish and the community that extjs has.

After the uproar regarding the changing of license at Ext, I wonder if the competing library smartclient would not be a better choice.
