ColorBox is a customizable lightbox plugin for jQuery. The appearance is completely controlled through CSS so users can restyle the box in order to create a customized lightbox that is unique to their project. You can check out the example Style 1, Style 2, Style 3 and Style 4.
ColorBox supports photos, photo groups, ajax, inline, and iframed content. It is completely unobtrusive, requires no changes to existing HTML. It degrades gracefully, all content displayed can be accessed without JavaScript. And it generates W3C valid XHTML and CSS.
Requirements: jQuery 1.3+
Demo: Style 1, Style 2, Style 3 and Style 4

it is very nice
i love style 1 and 4 the best
but i miss 1 thing so far…
probably easy to extend though
if you click outside the picture the colorbox should close imo.
This looks great! Thanks! I’ve been looking for something like this, but couldn’t find anything that could handle html/flash in the modal and still be customized to this extent. This will work great.
Hi Marco, this is my project. I’ve tested it in IE6-8, and recent versions of Opera, Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. I haven’t tested it in old versions Opera/Firefox/Safari though.
There’s a lot of jQuery lightboxes around now but this is definitely one of the best I’ve seen.
Agreed with Steve, out of all the jQuery lightbox projects, this has to be one of the best implementations. Demo 4 is probably my favorite.
Very nice
Style 2 is my favorite.
Thanks for sharing

Yeah, it’s one of the best lightbox plugin for JQuery.
I wish it could include some more features:
* option to add more description (currently only title)
* option to add thumb-strip
* option to fix top position, so the image doesn’t always move to center area of the screen
Thanks for excellent job
Hi Jack,
this is one of the best i have seen so far,
buti need to embed flv in the frame and play it from there directly, can you please suggest how to go about it?
-KPU
Me too I’ve been using colorbox and it rules in the kingdom of boxes
It’s a nice one, sadly enough it’s not able to play .flv directly (only via Vimeo or Youtube).
