So if you want to 'learn' a new language based on machine translation, the experience won't be good enough.However, what you've mentioned as problems in translating Chinese is actually not that bad. The key is not to use it as it is, but to overlay the translation result with multiple contexts. They only show one possible translation when really you should be able to choose from multiple options.
