Tried them for six months back in '07 and nearly lost 2 clients as a result. Way too many outages/slow-downs for my blood. The control panel is pretty and very Web 2.0, but is more of a hindrance than a help in setting things up like e-mail forwards.

Freelanceswitch and PsdTuts as well as FaveUp from Eden.CC are hosted at rackspace.com . Hardcore hosting. They're only dedicated, but they're worth it. They have big big clients. And i mean it.

Little late replying, but I've been on Mosso for a while now and haven't had an issue yet. Could do with a bit more powerful admin panel, but given the multiple environments I suppose it makes sense that its a little roped off.

I hosted several customer sites at Mosso for about 6 months and had horrible experiences, with numerous outages and regular slow-downs. The control panel is very clunky, taking several unintuitive steps to do a simple e-mail forward setup. I nearly lost a couple of clients as a result of hosting them there.

I could be wrong, but I believe Eden.cc uses Mosso to host Freelance Switch, PSD Tuts, Flash Den, etc.

Nice write-up. I've looked at Mosso before, but I thought they had different pricing levels then, not just the $100/mo.

It would be interesting to hear from anyone hosting a high-bandwidth site with them.

I used Mosso on a few sites when they got SSL capabilities (around a year ago). The service and 24/7 support was real good.

But their uptime was HORRIBLE. They are doing some cutting edge things with ASP and PHP side-by-side. But that means it is cutting edge and unstable. All of my database sites were down for over 48 straight hours one weekend. They refunded the month, but I lost a full weekend from client calls.

When I left, they still didn't have CRON possibilites as well as some other normal items. I felt their admin page was clunky and didnt give you access to much either.

Their webmail system is great (tho I've since convinced my customers to use google for their domain).

Just a warning to folks. If you want to use Mosso for clients, be sure to test out the system for 3 months or so, and read their customer forums. If the customer forums are still filled with complaints, those complaints are very real.

I wish Mosso the best of luck and hope they get it straightened out, cause it is a heck of an idea.
